Extra insurance is often carried by sport facilities and educational and athletic institutions as a supplement to the individual’s own insurance coverage, but this is not universally so and an individual should always perform due diligence and look into exactly what coverage is offered and what the requirements may be for coverage. We cannot stress strongly enough that it is important to closely examine the insurance policies to ensure that the coverage is as expected, and also there are often requirements by the institution of the status of the individual, whether they may be deemed full time or part time, or whether there is a requirement of periodic payments to maintain insurance coverage. Different jurisdictions, whether California or any other state or province in Canada also have different requirements and attention should be paid toward the details of what is expected whether it is a sports activity or other public activity in parks or driving to an event in an auto, car or bus.
